Donations

Ottawa West Community Support is a registered charity. We issue official receipts for Income Tax purposes, our Charity Registration Number is No. 89062 6104 RR0001

We would like to extend our thanks to all our generous donors. We are grateful for all your contributions to Ottawa West, from all those who contribute baking and raffle prizes to those who donate time and money. Our private contributors are one of our major sources of funding.

Fundraising

Since the summer of 2005, Ottawa West Community Support has been holding an annual penny fundraiser. This annual fundraising event entitled the ‘Summer of Pennies’ enables OWCS to continue to provide vital services to seniors and disabled adults in the West End of Ottawa.

Each year we encourage our supporting churches and members of the community to collect their pennies over a 100 day period starting June 1 of each year.

During the summer of 2008, we collected the equivalent of 262,785 pennies.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers form the heart of the Ottawa West Community Support community. During the past year, volunteers provided over 19,000 hours of service. These services include:

• Receptionists
• Office Assistants
• Musicians
• Kitchen Help
• Medical Transportation
  

We are currently in need of Volunteer Drivers to take seniors to Medical Appointments.

• Volunteer Drivers are matched with a client in need of a drive to a medical appointment.
• Volunteer Drivers use their own cars and are responsible for picking up clients, driving them to their medical appointment and bringing them back home.
• Volunteer Drivers are asked to collect a small fee to be submitted to OWCS.
• Volunteer Drivers are asked to report any unusual client conditions and concerns.
• All Volunteer Drivers are required to submit a recent negative criminal reference check
• All Volunteer Drivers must possess a valid driver’s license
• All mileage is reimbursed
