What is the Summer of Pennies
Ottawa West Community Support (OWCS) is celebrating its 7th Annual Summer of Pennies! The Summer of Pennies is an annual fundraiser for OWCS. Your pennies (nickels, dimes, quarters, loonies and/or twoonies) enable OWCS to continue to provide vital services to seniors and disabled adults in West-End Ottawa.
Last year with the help many local area churches, businesses and dedicated volunteers we collected and rolled the equivalent of 349,275 pennies. This year our challenge is to raise another quarter of a million pennies!
When is the Summer of Pennies
Between June 21 and September 21, each year we will be attempting to raise 250,000 pennies! We will gratefully accept any type of coinage!
Pennies can be dropped off at our centre at 1137 Wellington Street and if needed pick-up can be arranged by contacting the OWCS office at 613-728-6016.
How Do I Participate?
You can participate by personally collecting and saving pennies (nickels, dimes, quarters, loonies and/or twoonies are gratefully accepted) for OWCS or if you are a local business you can participate by placing a collection jar in your establishment for patrons to drop off their pennies.
Penny jars will be available from OWCS beginning in mid-May. Promotional posters are also available for those interested in helping us advertise our fundraising efforts.
If you are unable to pick up a penny jar and/or if you are unable to drop-off your penny donations, we would be happy to arrange a pick-up. To arrange a pick-up or drop-off please contact the office at 613-728-6016 or e-mail us at info@owcs.ca
